This course is the beginning level course that acquaints students with the development of 社会 work as a profession; the philosophy and value base of the profession; a generalist method of 社会 work practice; and the 多样性 of settings in which generalist 社会 work is practiced. This course focuses on basic concepts underlying the creation of 社会 policy and its analysis. This course applies the generalist model to practice with individuals in a variety of 社会 work settings. 课程内容包括基本的沟通技巧, 治疗计划, and 干预 skills that can be applied to working with individuals. The primary focus of this course is to help the student understand the interaction of the biological, 社会, 以及人类行为的心理系统, as they impact the life span from infancy through late adulthood. 也, special attention is given to specific issues and life events, 多样性, 和理论, as related to each of the phases of the life span.

The purpose of this course is to familiarize students with 社会 work practice within diverse family settings.
